Email Marketing Tools
You’re still going to need some tools and I laid them out for you in my article How to start an online business, which you can read here. But in summary you’ll need
- A domain
- A landing page software or plugin (if you’re using WordPress)
- An autoresponder
- Tracking software
With all of the online business models floating around the internet, email marketing is by far the best and cheapest way to make money online. You don’t need your own products or need to create sales pages or thank you pages (of course you can if you want to). But you can have an email marketing business up and running in a matter of minutes if you keep it simple.
Essentially what I’m saying is this – Build an email list and start email marketing.
Now once you’ve got going, track everything, you need to know what’s working and what’s not
Here is the basic email marketing data that you need:
- The conversion rate of landing pages
- Your email open rates
- Your email click through rates
- And when people buy you segment them onto a buyers list
Once you’ve built your landing pages all that remains is to send traffic to it. Here you’ve got 2 options either free or paid traffic.
Now the downside to getting free traffic is that unless you get a decent amount of traffic consistently, testing and landing page optimization is really difficult. With free traffic you have no control over how much and when traffic is going to hit your landing page.
A better option, which is what all the pro marketers use, is paid traffic. Paid traffic is predicatable and guarateed, so you’ll get all the tracking data you need quickly. Which means you can optimize your landing pages and get more of your visitors to sign up to you list and you’ll build it more quickly.
So really you only need 1 page to start an email marketing business – a landing page. From there on in, and you’ve probably heard this already “the money is in the list.” Well that’s half way true the money is in a RESPONSIVE list.
A responsive list is the holy grail of email marketing, so while it is vital to build a list you must make sure the people on your list respond to your messages, and when that happens you will make money.
That’s why email marketing is still the best!
